The Australian market fell in January, with the ASX 200 decreasing by 0.8% for the month, and the ASX Small Ordinaries decreasing by 2.4% for the month. The Affluence Small Company Fund increased by 1.0% in January, to bring total performance since inception 9 months ago to 9.9%. The Fund was held back this month by the high cash holding of 25%, however we are looking to invest some of this over the next month or two.
The Forager Australian Shares LIC continued its strong performance since listing, with an increase of 12% for the month. The other major contributor to this months performance was the Phoenix Opportunities Fund which increased by 3.0%, and the Ausbil Microcap Fund which increased by 3.9%. At the end of January, the Affluence Small Company Fund held investments in 4 unlisted funds representing 61% of the total portfolio, 5 LICs accounting for 14% of the total portfolio, and the balance 25% cash.
