Why We Are Different

Our focus is on delivering superior long-term investment returns, and providing quality education and investment ideas that allow you to understand how and why we invest the way we do.

Here are some of the things we think are important for you to know about us.

We Invest Differently

We don’t invest directly in stocks, bonds and property. Instead, we seek to invest across all asset classes, through unlisted managed funds and ASX listed investment companies. We invest in a way which we believe balances maximum returns with lower volatility. Unlike many investment managers who sacrifice returns in their pursuit of diversification, we will not make any investment unless we believe it can achieve our target investment returns.

We Invest with Boutique Managers

The truly great investment managers are often hard to find. They generally manage smaller amounts of money (this is a good thing) and therefore have a greater chance of outperforming the market. Like us, the investment staff at these boutique managers often have a significant portion of their own wealth invested in the manager and the funds they manage, creating a stronger alignment of interests with investors than at larger wealth managers.

We Seek Unique Strategies

We prefer managers who operate in specialised markets and who use alternative strategies, which can provide a competitive advantage. Some of these strategies can perform much better in falling markets (and can even increase in value), which helps to smooth long-term results.

We Don’t Charge Fixed Management Fees

Our fees are 100% performance based. Affluence charge a performance fee equal to 12.5% of the positive performance of our funds. If we don’t perform, we don’t get paid.

We Target Regular Income

While our priority is to generate the best long term returns we can, we understand that regular income is very important to many investors. All our funds aim to pay distributions of at least 5% per annum. Depending on the fund, distributions may be paid monthly or quarterly.

Thanks for reading and all the best with your investing.
